Patriotism in Nassau County
Nassau County NY is home to many patriotic families who love to celebrate America all year round! Here are some great activities parents, kindergarten students and families can enjoy together:
-Visit the Oldest House in America, the Raynham Hall Museum. Originally built in 1639, the house was lived in by seven generations of the Townsend family. The family had many Patriot ancestors who fought in the American Revolution.
-Explore Oyster Bay National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is a great place to see wildlife and learn about conservation. There are also several Patriot burial sites on the grounds.
-Check out thechtmanns 1776 Farmhouse Museum. This restored farmhouse was once home to a Patriot blacksmith. Visitors can see demonstrations of 18th century blacksmithing techniques as well as other historical exhibits.
-Take a walk or bike ride along the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Freedom Trail. This trail honors Nassau County residents who have served our country.
-Attend one of the many patriotic events held in Nassau County throughout the year, such as the Annual 4th of July Celebration at Jones Beach State Park or the Memorial Day Ceremony at Eisenhower Park.
