There are many nicknames for the Flag of the United States of America such as:

Betsy Ross was said to have sewn the first American flag.

The first Flag Day was observed on June 14th, 1885.

When the flag can no longer be repaired or used, it must be destroyed in a respectful way such as burning.

If dirty or soiled, an American flag may be washed and dry cleaned.
